Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Mexican tourism into the U.S. has risen 38% over the last 18 months. This is attributed to the U.S. focusing on Mexican consumer habits and promotions directed toward that market.
It is predicted that by 2012 the number of Mexicans visiting the U.S. will continue to grow, due to the approval of a budget for promoting the "Brand USA" with heavy investments in Mexico, Brazil, Britain and Japan.
Tourism officials see 2012 as a good year for the tourism sector. Because this is an election year, there will be an injection of resources into the economy, and consumer confidence is rising.
Mexican tourists spend an average of $900 to $1,000 USD per person, and the destinations they favor are Las Vegas, New York and Orlando.
Travelocity is currently running an initiative for Mexicans to choose their favorite destinations in the United States. In its' first year they have received more than 4 million votes, and a 20% boost in destinations in more than 80 countries. This years' vote is expected to surpass what was that achieved in 2010.
To vote, go to BatallaDeDestinos.com.mx between November 11 and December 11, 2011.
