Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - On March 1, 2012, the starting shotgun at the San Diego Yacht Club will mark the beginning of a Nautical Extravaganza that encompasses ten events taking place on the Riviera Nayarit this spring under the umbrella of the Regata Copa México Edición Olímpica.
This is the 32nd year of The Vallarta Race, from San Diego to Nuevo Vallarta, which will kick start the Nautical Extravaganza as participating crews try to break the speed record set last year by the Akela, which covered almost 1,000 nautical miles in a little over 85 hours.
Experts consider Riviera Nayarit as one of the best destinations for sports sailing and other nautical sports for several reasons; they can be enjoyed year-round, and Riviera Nayarit offers modern marinas, fiberglass specialists, and technicians to fix all the gadgets found on boats, as well as extraordinary tourist hospitality services.
The marketing efforts being made by the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) of Riviera Nayarit include the support of activities like the Nautical Extravaganza. These events not only attract competitors to the region, they also attract important media exposure through the various media and networks covering these events.
