Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Originally from Veracruz, local musician Jorge Acosta has lived and performed in Puerto Vallarta for more than 16 years.

Most regular visitors know him from his table-side, nightly serenades in Vallarta's restaurants. Others know him from the many weddings and private functions he has performed for them. But when Jorge approached 'The Palm' back in October about doing a show there, an exciting new concept was born.

"We were rehearsing for an upcoming show and Jorge walked in with his guitar and, as he always had on the street, politely shook my hand and smiled," says Tracy Parks, entertainment coordinator at The Palm. "He said simply, 'I want to perform at The Palm,' and after a few minutes discussion, he was auditioning for us. We booked him on the spot for an opening we had in December."

Those first two nights led to two more and his audiences grew bigger each time. Jorge's shows are now one of the most popular at The Palm.

"I had no doubt audiences would love Jorge," Parks added, "but the magic he worked with his band members was a huge surprise and is what delights his audiences each week. It was awesome to see audiences gave him a standing ovation on opening night."

Classically trained, Jorge's voice is angelic and powerful. Singing a collection of classic Spanish and English favorites, Jorge brings his band to accompany him at each show for an evening of sheer musical pleasure. His voice combined with the symphonious prowess of his band members gets better with each performance. Jorge is now in his 3rd month of encore performances and his next show will be on Thursday, March 1st, at 8 pm.

"It is exciting to see the kind of creativity and collaboration that is at work right now here at The Palm. It is exactly what we had hoped would happen," stated Mark Rome, The Palm Cabaret's director.

After Jorge introduced his musicians to The Palm, local favorite Kim Kuzma became interested in doing a show with Spanish guitarists. This is how the constantly sold-out Kim Kuzma show, "Unplugged," was born. Ms. Kuzman's show has also been extended through March (Sundays at 8 pm).
