Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - On March 21st, Riviera Nayarit will host the traditional San Blas Carnival, which aside from the procession and the reading of "Bad Mood's Will," promises dancing and fun for everyone, even for the German tourists arriving by boat.
Early on the morning of the celebration, the arrival of a cruise ship with German tourists will start the traditional Carnival celebration, which is 101 years old. Performances and music will start at 8 am, when the boat is expected to arrive.
Under the title "101 years of tradition" a parade with Comparsas (a party composed of persons masked and costumed) and floats will be lead by Betty Macias, crowned as the Carnival Queen this 2012, and Miguel Pizarro, crowned as the King of Joy. Afterwards a spectacular party at Playa El Borrego has been prepared, open to the public, where prizes for the best floats and costumes will be presented.
This year, the San Blas Carnival is being organized by the community in a joint effort with government authorities, which has put a great deal of enthusiasm into rescuing their traditions. They've also requested the support of the private sector, of different government levels, and of several other institutions.
The Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) of Riviera Nayarit congratulates this group of individuals, as the effort they devote to preserve their traditional celebrations translates into a major incentive to attract tourists to our destination.
