Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico - The Riviera Nayarit Classic part of the Symetra Tour and a LPGA qualifying tournament, will be back at Paradise Village in Nuevo Vallarta from April 23 to 29, 2012 with $125,000 USD in prizes - the highest in the entire tour.
The Riviera Nayarit Classic will be the third tournament in the tour previously known as the LPGA Futures Tour, which has produced brilliant players like Mexico's sweetheart Lorena Ochoa, as well as Christina Kim, Jin Young Pak, Miriam Nagl, Violeta Retamoza, Grace Park, and Kathleen Ekey, and many others.
Professional golfers will begin arriving at Paradise Village in Nuevo Vallarta on April 23rd to start playing the qualifying tournament's practice rounds at El Tigre Golf & Country Club - a 6,433 yard, 72-par championship course designed by Robert Von Hagge.
One hundred forty-four players, including some amateurs, are expected to participate in the official rounds, which begin on April 27th, and the Pro-Am tournament that has been scheduled for play over the previous days.
The LPGA qualifying tournament's format will be of 54 holes, with a cutoff at the top 70 scores, and the lowest ties after the first 36 holes. The total $125,000 USD in prizes include $17,500 for first place and $12,500 for second place.
