Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Investours, a local non-profit organization that supports artisans throughout the Bay of Banderas, will be hosting a trade fair market at La Luna restaurant on April 12th from 6:30 pm until 9 pm. It will be a unique opportunity to sample authentic Mexican cuisine from communities throughout the bay area, purchase artisanal products made by local women, and enjoy a great night of music and prizes.
Investours runs "microfinance tours" that allow socially conscious travelers to visit and understand life in poorer communities while investing in their development. On an “investour,” travelers are brought intimately into the lives of local artisans who are seeking small loans to improve their business projects.
This is an opportunity for travelers to gain a perspective of the “real” Mexico, eat traditional foods, and make a difference in someone’s life, as tour proceeds go toward supporting interest-free loans for the artisans visited. This micro-loan helps improve the lives of the artisan, his or her family, and fellow community members.
Investours invites you to help us empower the female artisans of Nayarit by joining them for the April 12th market. The event will give you a chance to meet many of Investours’ clients while you sample and browse products from throughout the region.
The event was made possible by several local sponsors (mostly businesses owned and operated by women), including La Luna Restaurant, Mexi-Go Magazine, A Page in the Sun, Vallarta Food Tours, PV Sea Dive, the Spanish Experience Center, Provecho Vallarta, Charlotte Rempfer, Sue Fornoff, and Harold Sokolove.
