Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - In keeping with the philosophy of "Make it, Bake it, Grow it," the Old Town Farmers Market - Tianguis Cultural is "a producer only" Market - all the products are made, baked, grown and sold by vendors, all whom live within 50 kilometers of Vallarta.

Now in its’ third season, the Market provides local fresh farm produce, artisan foods, handmade crafts, jewelry, clothing, community education and live entertainment to locals and tourists from the entire Bay of Banderas region.

Now in its’ third season, the Market provides local fresh farm produce, artisan foods, handmade crafts, jewelry, clothing, community education and live entertainment to locals and tourists from the entire Bay of Banderas region. Here's a sampling of what you'll find at the Puerto Vallarta Old Town Farmers' Market this week...

Luis Martinez Art

We are very impressed by the talent of this young artist. Stop by and see the work of Luis Martinez who has a "booth" on Basilio Badillo. Luis started painting when he was just 11 years old. He works with oil, acrylic, pen/ink and water color. He uses marble dust with sealers on some of his canvases to create wonderful texture. His DaVinci inspired angel is just gorgeous. He also creates wonderful abstracts with Mexican-themed figures in pen/ink and highlighted with water colors. You can contact Luis at paco.lorearte(at)gmail.com, miraelviento(at)hotmail.com, or stop by Galería Vallarta at Guerrero 187 in El Centro, where Luis also exhibits his art.

Trattoria Michel

A favorite in the Olas Altas area, Trattoria Michel is offering delicious ravioli and pasta sauce at his booth on Pino Suarez. Michel Pascal Ferrari moved to Puerto Vallarta five years ago from Switzerland to open his restaurant here. A trained cook, he wanted to offer more traditional Italian cuisine - fine dining but a bit more rustic. He calls it "grandmother's food." He is especially proud of his veal shanks, beef Bourguignonne, and his ravioli. You can contact Michel at michel(at)trattoria.com.mx or check out his restaurant’s website at Trattoria.com.mx.

Animales de Lana

Martha Lopez of Animales de Lana started making her wonderful creations when only 10 years old... eight years ago. She uses wool to sew up all sorts of animals in all sizes and colors. You can find monkeys, turtles, horses, giraffes, and more that make perfect gifts for children of any age (or even your favorite pet!) The animals are stuffed with felt and, on occasion, quite embellished. She also crafts these wonderful bracelets or chokers that are made using macramé or crochet techniques and are available in various colors and patterns. You can contact Martha at Luis.farmer(at)gmail.com.

Frutas Frescas de Vallarta

You’ll find the most temptingly fresh fruit available in the food court at the table of Rita Diaz of Frutas Frescas de Vallarta. Her selection includes strawberries, mango, pineapple, melon, banana, cucumber and jicama. You can purchase single or multiple items in a container topped with your selection of yogurt, cream, honey, granola, chili or lime. Stop by for a healthy delicious treat in the afternoon. You can contact Rita at adalyanalilia(at)hotmail.com.

More about the Market...

The Old Town Farmers Market - Tianguis Cultural has fast become one of Puerto Vallarta's most compelling weekend attractions where you can meet new friends, say hello to old ones, talk directly to the producers, buy great products, support the local economy and take part in activities for the whole family.

Stop by the Market info booth located on the corner of Pino Suarez and B. Badillo and purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win a generous basket of products donated by the various vendors. Bring a donation of school supplies and receive a free ticket to the raffle. All proceeds from the raffle go toward projects to help the school.

The Old Town Farmers Market-Tianguis Cultural is located on Calle Pino Suarez and inside the El Jardin de Ninos Emiliano Zapata, between V. Carranza and B. Badillo. We invite you to visit us every Saturday from November to May between 9:30 am and 2 pm. Plenty of parking is available across the street in the Lazaro Cardenas parkade. For more information, visit the Market website at OldTownFM.com, or its Facebook page: Old Town Farmer’s Market Puerto Vallarta.
