Andres Rupprechter opened the restaurant close to 20 years ago and fashioned it after a European sidewalk café. Kaiser Maximilian is actually two separate spaces. Espresso Bar, on the corner of Olas Altas and Manuel Dieguez, and the main dining room at 380-B Olas Altas. Los Arcos Hotel sits between these two establishments. The restaurant is open for dinner from 6 to 11 pm and Espresso Bar is open from 8 am until 11 pm, and this is where you can try a wonderful Austrian main course dish during the Early Bird Special.

Historically Austrian cuisine gets its influences from the former Austro-Hungarian Empire. Regional recipes from Italy, Hungary, Bohemia, Germany and the Balkans affects Austrian cooking, and in turn this fusion of styles was popular throughout the Empire.

Executive Chef Juan Carlos Palomera continues to update all the long-time favorites, and new creations are added yearly.

Kaiser Maximilian Early Bird Menu Selections
Served daily from 1:00 to 6:30 pm (Closed on Sundays)

• Filet of trout with sautéed spinach, celery purée and a tomato and almond ragout

• Red snapper fillet with risotto, cauliflower and smoked chilies

• Beef tenderloin with creamy gorgonzola cheese, brussel sprouts, mushrooms and potato au gratin

• Chicken breast with rosemary on mashed potatoes, mustard seed sauce and garlic roasted vegetables

• Roasted leg of veal on glazed vegetables, potato noodles and mushroom cream sauce

• Wienerschnitzel, breaded pork loin with potatoes and Austrian salad

• Zwiebelrostbraten, flat pounded beef loin with Austrian onion rings

• Rahmschnitzel, pork loin escalopes with homemade noodles and creamy mushroom sauce

Espresso Bar is open all day and well into the night. Breakfast is served from 8 am until 2 pm. The lunch menu, which includes sandwiches, salads, pastas, and even hamburgers, is served from noon until 11 pm. Plus the restaurant's full dinner menu is also available from noon to 11 pm. They also have an extensive wine list.

Both the main dining room and the café have sidewalk tables, air-conditioned rooms inside, a superior wait staff, and casual elegance. Get to know Kaiser Maximilian for the first time or reacquaint yourself with an old favorite.
