Travel Channel's 'Top Spot' Filmed in Riviera Nayarit

August 7, 2012

Riviera Nayarit's diverse touristic options make it difficult to choose between all of the different alternatives, and doing so in front of a television camera can make it even harder.

Cristin and Gregory took on this challenge and decided to play a game where they would pick one out of three different properties in Mexico's Pacific Treasure to spend their vacation. By starring in an episode of Top Spot, a show that will soon be aired by the Travel Channel, they eventually had to make their decision in front of the camera.

Top Spot is a TV show with a similar concept to House Hunters International, which has also visited Mexico's Pacific Treasure, and has proven to be a popular show since 2006.

In Top Spot, the production invites a couple to a destination and presents them with three different properties in three different locations. At the end of the show, they will choose the location where they'll spend their vacation, which they'll pay for themselves.

They were very interested in Riviera Nayarit due to the diversity of its landscapes and the quality of its properties, which includes all-inclusive hotels, European Plan resorts, and boutique hotels that would allow them to enjoy different experiences.

"Gregory was looking for an All-Inclusive and Cristin was looking for something more discrete and romantic, and they were convinced that Riviera Nayarit had something for both of them," explained the presenter.

The Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) of Riviera Nayarit supported the production of the show, and taking in consideration the preferences of this couple, it requested the participation of the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, a luxurious all-inclusive; of Villa Bella, a romantic and small boutique hotel in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle; and La Tranquila, a mix of both worlds amidst the unforgettable landscape of Litibu. Gregory's and Cristi's decision will be disclosed once the show airs.

Targeted Promotion

The support provided by the CVB of Riviera Nayarit to this TV show follows a strategy that intends to attract the North American market interested in traveling, in order to influence their upcoming travel decision. Here are some facts about the show:

$80,895 USD is the average viewer's income
55.6% of viewers are between 25 and 54 years old
62.9% are property owners
34.9% have college or higher education
32.2% are managers, executives and professionals

The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau supports TV productions like Top Spot, as they contribute in promoting our destination and attracting more tourists, which benefits the people of Nayarit.
