Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The idea behind 'Hairdressers Against AIDS Vallarta' originates from the L'Oreal Paris Corporation's Coiffeurs Fights AIDS initiative supported by UNESCO, which was presented to us as 'Hairdressers Against AIDS' in the Global Village at the 2008 XVII International AIDS Conference in Mexico City.

From that date on, the desire to implement the initiative in Vallarta was always present. After many failed attempts to contact the creators, we finally decided to utilize the resources, initiative and creativity of SETAC, along with the commitment and support of the most renowned stylists and socially responsible sponsors in Puerto Vallarta to make the event a reality.

In this strategy, the key players are the stylists who, after training, will play an important role in raising HIV / AIDS awareness through the relationship they have made with the people who rely on them every day and who, in many cases, have become close friends and confidants.

Utilizing this training, the stylists will not only be able to answer basic questions about HIV / AIDS, explain how the rapid testing process works and tell them where they can be tested; but will also have condoms and lubricants available in their salons.

The AIDS virus is still present, and it's gaining ground every day.

The fight against AIDS needs many voices, which is why we invite you to be a part of a great event in recognition and appreciation of the Puerto Vallarta stylists who have agreed to be the spokes persons of SETAC's 'Hairdressers Against AIDS Vallarta' campaign.

This fabulous night of fantasy, magic and glamour featuring a runway, fantasy hair creations, Diva, Catherinne, raffles and surprises is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 29th from 8-11 pm at SKY Mandala on the Malecón in downtown Puerto Vallarta. A donation of $120 pesos buys you a ticket, which are available at the SETAC Community Center on PV's south side.
