Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Kick off the holiday season at Daiquiri Dick's Restaurant in Puerto Vallarta. Everyone is welcome to join the Canadian Thanksgiving dinner on October 8th starting at 5 pm. A turkey dinner with all the trimmings will highlight the menu.

Historically this is a holiday to celebrate the fall harvest and it has been taking place since 1578. English explorer Martin Frobisher ran into trouble on one of his voyages. He lost a ship and was plagued by winter storms. He ambled into Frobisher Bay and was assisted by Robert Wolfall, a local minister. They all gave thanks for their rescue.

Years later, many explorers landing in Canada continued giving thanks for their safe journeys. Over the centuries the holiday eventually evolved into what it is today.

You do not have to be Canadian to dig into this bountiful meal. It's a three course dinner and you have a choice of appetizers and desserts, or you can substitute your dessert for a national drink or glass of house wine. The cost for this great dinner is $350 pesos per person.

Canadian Thanksgiving is the start of a super winter season at Daiquiri Dick's, with many events and parties planned, including the ever-popular Jorge Acosta performing two shows on October 26th. Stay tuned for details.
