Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - In order to build a partnership for the benefit of the tourists and local community from the United States, the Mayor of Puerto Vallarta, Ramón Guerrero Martinez, held a productive meeting with Kelly Trainor, the American Consular Agent for the Puerto Vallarta region.
Guerrero Martinez announced that a legal resource desk that will provide services exclusively for foreigners, including a hotline that will provide 24-hour service with bilingual staff and immediate responsiveness, will be part of the Social Services office.
Another program that will be launching is "Adopt Vallarta." This program provides the foreign and local community an avenue through which they can support local charitable cases by contributing their time, resources, or materials to benefit a school, institution, family, or a child that requires assistance. This scheme will be implemented through the Municipal DIF who will ensure that funds are directed to the intended causes.
Ramón Guerrero shares the consular agent's interest in installing security cameras - for which they will be seeking state and federation financial assistance - to further enhance the safety of Vallarta.
He also noted that he will be asking the Jalisco Secretary of Education to enhance the curriculum of primary and secondary schools to include training, values, and tools in vocations that will benefit and sustain the city.
Kelly Trainor, who called the meeting, told the new mayor that he has the support of the American community in all actions necessary to ensure the welfare of this city.
Also attending the breakfast meeting were the Municipal Tourism Director, Carlos Gerard, and General Manager of Hotel Miramar, Rafael Alejo, who served as an excellent host.
