Vallarta Orchid Society Lecture Series Returns

October 15, 2012

This month's Vallarta Orchid Society free discussion will take place on Saturday, October 27th at 2 pm, at the Vallarta Botanical Gardens. There is a small entrance fee to the gardens for non-members.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Did you purchase an orchid two, three or more years ago when it was in bloom? Has that plant continued to bloom? If not, then this talk is just what you need. There are about a dozen different reasons why an orchid plant will not bloom year after year.

On Saturday, October 27th at 2 pm, these reasons will be discussed at the Vallarta Botanical Gardens. The discussion will be conducted by T. J. Hartung of the Vallarta Orchid Society, and is free of charge. There is a small entrance fee to the gardens for non-members.

If you have an orchid that hasn't bloomed is several years, you are invited to bring it with you. Learn how to care for your orchids, and enjoy the botanical gardens at the same time. The Vallarta Botanical Gardens has a large collection of orchids and other plants from the area. They have orchids for sale, as well as potting materials and a variety of pots.

Also, you'll find a restaurant, a swimming hole in the river, shade houses where young plants get their start and a number of trails through the jungle areas. The gardens will conduct a walking tour starting at 1 pm, with a knowledgeable guide to answer questions.

The gardens are located 24 Km south of town, just 3 Km past Chico's Paradise. The bus to El Tuito will stop at the entrance to the Gardens, and will return you to town. For more information on the Botanical Gardens, visit their website at vbgardens.org.
