Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Conner and Stephanie Watts had been visiting Puerto Vallarta for about 15 years. In fact, they were married in 2009 on Los Muertos Beach at Villa Estrella Mar. In September of 2010, when Stephanie wanted to leave Park City Utah for a warmer climate, Puerto Vallarta was the logical choice.
Prior to the move, Conner had owned and operated The Sidecar, one of the city's most popular bar/restaurants with pizza so famous it was actually featured in the New York Times, The Wall St. Journal, and Men's Health.
Conner had previously worked in a brewery in Colorado and is a die hard beer fan... so GAYPV asked him about why the brewery in Puerto Vallarta. He chuckled and said, "While there's nothing better than an ice-cold Corona on the beach, I've always wished for more of a variety in Puerto Vallarta. Cabo and D.F. already have brew-pubs, so why not PV?" The permitting process, as expected, took a while as it was the first of its kind in Puerto Vallarta.
The brewing process takes from 17 to 28 days and can be a bit of a challenge in PV due to the warm climate and because all of the malts, the hops, and the yeast are imported from the US. Look for 6 to 8 types of beer on hand at any given time at Los Muertos Brewing, including Blonde, Amber, Chili & Fruit Ales; a Pale Ale so strong you could consider it an IPA; and even a stout! Beer lovers rejoice as PV welcomes our first Brew Pub!
