Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - For the 13th consecutive year Toys For Tots has successfully fulfilled its mission of generating smiles on the faces of thousands of children in Puerto Vallarta and the communities surrounding Banderas Bay.
Early in the morning of January 7th, volunteers gathered at the Marriott Hotel to start loading up more than 8,500 toys into the delivery vehicles. Thousands of balloons, soft toys, and dolls were sent out on 8 different routes that covered the municipalities of: Cabo Corrientes, El Tuito, Boca de Tomatlan, Mismaloya, Las Palmas del Progreso, El Progreso, Volcanes, Mojoneras, Magisterio, Loma Bonita, Joyas del Pedregal, La Floresta, Brisas del Pacifico, El Colorado, El Zancudo, Soyatan, San Sebastian, Mezcalitos, Laguna, Tondoroque, Higuera Blanca to Sayulita, Guamuchil, San Quintin, San Ignacio, La Peņita, El Colomo, La Ceiba, El Carrizo, Los Sauces, and Aguamilpa.
The poor condition of the roads did not stop the volunteers from getting to the most distant communities to bring the toys to the children. The altruists were greeted with smiling faces and lots of excitement when the vehicles packed with toys approached as, for many of these children, the gifts would be the only toy they will receive this year.
The appreciation shown by the parents and teachers, as well as the smiles from the children motivate the Toys for Tots volunteers to continue working to provide a happy childhood for the kids in Puerto Vallarta and the surrounding area.
These events are a success thanks to sponsors like CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, which each year donates 100 percent of the Toys For Tots gala dinner for 200 people and, in conjunction with the Navy League association, coordinates the Toys for Tots activities. Also the Vista Vallarta Golf Course - who donated the space for the Golf Tournament - and many more including Rivercity ATM.
But just talking about the children's happiness is never enough. Toys For Tots will continue sponsoring various events in 2013 to raise money so that more children can be benefited.
