Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Book readers be advised: The 8th annual Puerto Vallarta Writers Conference and Book Fair offers an opportunity to talk about books with the people who write them.
Readers as well as writers are invited to participate in a discussion of books, authors and good writing, hear Puerto Vallarta’s literary success David Lyons tell of his transformation from globe-trotting lawyer to big-publisher thriller novelist, and enjoy a further opportunity to mingle with authors at the book fair.
The conference, sponsored jointly by Puerto Vallarta Writers Group and Biblioteca Los Mangos, will be held at the library February 22th - 24th. Ginger Tindall and Gina Lopez, two of Vallarta’s most avid and eclectic readers, will moderate the 90-minute gab-fest on books beginning at 5 pm on Friday the 22nd.
"Bring your reading glasses," Tindall says. "There will be surprises. We are going to present a lot of authors in an interactive, fun setting."
David Lyons' talk will come afterward at 7 pm. Cost for the two events is $250 pesos to be paid at the door. Proceeds go to finance the library. A cash-bar reception with appetizers after the talk will provide further opportunities to mingle and chat with the writers.
The book fair, beginning at noon Sunday, February 24th on the library grounds, is also open to all and is free. It will feature book signings and sales by conference and community writers, author readings, entertainment, and food from such local vendors as Leonardo's Tacos, Juanita's Tamales, and Letitia's Churros.
For those interested in the full three-day conference, registration is $150 or $2,000 pesos. Seating is limited so early registration will guarantee participation. Registrants will receive further emails outlining the program of workshops and seminars. Online registration is at www.pvwg.com.
In addition to Lyons, presenters include, ghost writer and editor Terra Mar, mystery writers Jinx Schwartz and Beth Groundwater, author and blogger James Callan, literary agent Suzie Townsend and publisher’s representative Billie Johnson. The emphasis will be on turning ambition into success.
