Bucerias - Manos de Amor, the children’s shelter in Bucerias, is thrilled to announce that the "Rhythm N Ribs" event made its goal and raised more money then last year!
As the shelter survives solely on contributions and fund raising events, the money raised will help to feed, educate, and clothe the 30 children at Manos de Amor for another year.
There are several projects in the works to improve conditions for the children of Casa Hogar - including installing solar panels on the rooftop! Representatives from eSun Energy (of Bahia de Banderas, Ajijic, and Guadalajara) have inspected the location and are hoping to start installation of the 14 solar panels soon.
Shortly after eSun opened it's office near Bucerias they were approached by their first local customers with the idea for the money-saving community service project. The shelter currently pays around 5,000 pesos every two months for its power and can reduce its electric bills by as much as 97 percent once the solar panels are in place.
While neither eSun or Manos de Amor would relate the cost of the system, a member of MdA’s Steering Committee acknowledged it's a "really good" price.
They are also hoping to raise money for a new boys dorm and bath. Casa Hogar currently houses eighteen boys ranging from ages 3 to 12 and expansion to better accommodate them has become necessary. They keep growing as do the needs of the community!
The Manos de Amor Children's Shelter wishes to thank everyone for their support!
