Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Over the past 4 years, one of the most anticipated events of the season has been PV's version of the Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras Parade through the Old Town Romantic Zone. As we previously reported, what would have been the 5th anniversary of the wild and colorful event, is not happening this year.
However, after several meetings with the Vallarta Director of Tourism, the Vallarta Carnaval Committee was granted permission to celebrate. Unfortunately, the approval came too late to organize a Mardi Gras Parade in Old Town Vallarta's Romantic Zone for this year.
Instead, the City of Puerto Vallarta and Vallarta Carnaval Committee are sponsoring a Mardi Gras Masquerade Party on the new Los Muertos Pier on Monday, February 11, from 7-10 pm. The Mardi Gras Masquerade Party on the Pier is free and open to all, the only requirement is that you must wear a mask.
Beginning at 7 pm, the pier will be closed to anyone not wearing a mask. Masked party-goers will enjoy multiple live bands emceed by Sylvie Scopazzo, dancing, and the best light show in town. Drinks and food will be offered for sale by neighboring bars and restaurants.
What is more, the Vallarta Carnaval Committee has been assured that they will regain control of the 2014 Mardi Gras Parade, which will take place on March 4, and they aim to make it the biggest and best Mardi Gras celebration Vallarta has ever seen!
