Riviera Nayarit, Mexico - Riviera Nayarit is ready for this year's fishing season! Some of the most sought after gamefish in the world are caught in the waters along the more than 180 miles of coast at our destination.
Two of the most important fishing events in Mexico are now ready to begin: The 53rd International Fishing Tournament in San Blas and the 2nd International Fishing Tournament in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.
Mexico's Pacific Treasure is one of the most enticing settings for sport fishing lovers. Wahoo, sailfish, dorado (mahi-mahi,) tuna, three different species of marlin, sawfish, and snapper are just a few of the species caught here - guaranteeing a great fishing experience year-round.
Three years ago, Tepic's Sport Fishing Club made history during the celebration of the 50th International Fishing Tournament in San Blas, by offering millions of pesos in prizes, and this year they will be raising the bar once again!
Fonatur's Nautical Marina at the historic Port of San Blas will host this traditional and renowned sport fishing event that will take place on May 29th through June 2nd. This is a privileged destination because of the diversity of its natural environment that not only makes it one of the favorite destinations to fish, but has also earned recognition as the best place in Latin America for bird watching.
The first place winner of the sailfish category will win a Frontier 2013 pick-up. The second, third, and fourth place winners will also win cars. There will also be cars for each of the winners on the marlin and mahi-mahi categories and fishing gear for the second and third places finishers of those competitions.
This year, a raffle will be held among all the contenders and the winner will be also be awarded with a car.
The 2nd International Fishing Tournament to be held in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle on October 9th - 13th will also be organized by Tepic's Sport Fishing Club this year.
