Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - If you love trivia then you won't want to miss the Charity Pub Quiz Challenge 2013. Every Wednesday from May 15 to June 12, contestants will team up to show off their intellectual prowess, win thousands of pesos worth of prizes, and help the Vallarta Toys for Tots program.

In 2011, Florian Rieder, Puerto Vallarta resident and founder of CALEX Consulting - Software Development - Training, approached Murphy's Irish Pub owner, Jon Murphy, with an idea. Rieder was inspired by the trivia contests held in the pubs of his hometown in Switzerland. Murphy loved the idea, and Pub Trivia was born.

"When I heard the idea, I knew it would be a great opportunity to give locals and tourists a touch of what they had experienced from their own home towns," says Murphy, who has been hosting Pub Trivia at Murphy's Irish Pub since November 2011. "Murphy's provides the venue, equipment, and live music while Florian moderates the challenges, adding a touch of comic relief and intrigue with a variety of trivia topics."

Pub Trivia was such a hit that Rieder and Murphy decided to add a charitable aspect and create Charity Pub Quiz Challenge 2013. They approached the Puerto Vallarta Navy League with the idea of incorporating the event with the organization's Toys for Tots efforts. Sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps, Toys for Tots raises funds to purchase and distribute toys and playground equipment in the greater Puerto Vallarta area.

The Navy League was in, and local businesses were lined up to donate gift certificates to restaurants, cigars from Vallarta Cigar Factory, golf rounds at the Marina Vallarta Golf Course, an overnight stay at Casa Isabel Boutique Hotel, and scuba training with PV Sea Dive. "Our top priority is to raise as much money as possible for Toys for Tots," says Murphy, "but we also want to offer a very welcoming, fun-filled event for Vallarta locals."

The one-time-only registration is $250 pesos per person and includes a welcome drink each night. All proceeds - minus the cost of promotional flyers - will go to the Toys for Tots charity. Weekly prizes will be awarded, but the top-ticket items will be given to the team with the most points upon the conclusion of the Charity Pub Quiz Challenge 2013.

The Charity Pub Quiz Challenge 2013 teams - made up of three to six players - will participate in the five week competition at four locations:

Week 1: Murphy's Irish Pub
Week 2: Casa Isabel Boutique Hotel
Week 3: Twisted Palms Rooftop Lounge
Week 4: Los Muertos Brewery
Week 5: Murphy's Irish Pub

Teams can register at any of the participating bars. Charity Pub Quiz Challenge 2013 festivities will begin at 8 pm at Murphy's Irish Pub at Morelos 484, Centro. They will run every Wednesday from May 15 to June 12th.
