Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - The scenery in Marina Vallarta was even more stunning last week, as the Televisa Guadalajara crew had the privilege of filming the twelve gorgeous finalists who will compete for the 2013 Nuestra Belleza Jalisco (Miss Jalisco) title at Teatro Diana in Guadalajara on July 30th.
Jalisco has been renowned for it's beautiful women since 1953 - when 19-year-old Ana Bertha Lepe was named the third runner up at the Miss Universe contest, which propelled her career as a Mexican film actress - but only one of these twelve beautiful women will have the privilege of representing our state in the Miss Mexico pageant.
In the world of Latin American beauty pageants, these beauty and talent competitions become increasingly important as one progresses up the ladder. Winning the Miss Jalisco title will not only give the contestant the right to compete in the 2013 Nuestra Belleza México (Miss Mexico) beauty pageant, but also the chance to represent her country in the Miss Universe contest.
Several well-known celebrities have worn the Nuestra Belleza Jalisco crown, including Galilea Montijo, Luz Elena, Jackie Bracamontes, and Esmeralda Pimentel, among others. Contestants from the state of Jalisco have won three consecutive national titles, with Karla Carrillo being crowned Miss Mexico in 2008, Ximena Navarrete in 2009, and Karin Ontiveros in 2010. In 2010, Ximena Navarrete went on to win the Miss Universe title for Mexico for the first time in 19 years.
According to Jalisco Secretary of Tourism delegate Ludwin Virgin Estrada, who was on hand during the Puerto Vallarta shoot, the footage that was filmed here last week will be part of Televisa Guadalajara's coverage of the Nuestra Belleza Jalisco final competition, which will be broadcast from the state's capital at 8 pm on Tuesday, July 30, 2013.
