Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - In search of a beauty who will be representing Puerto Vallarta at different events to be held in the city and promoting the natural beauty and attractiveness of this tourist destination, the municipal government will hold the grand finale and crowning of 'Miss Vallarta 2013' on Saturday, September 14th.
The event is scheduled to be held sometime between 7-8 pm at the lighthouse on the Malecón in downtown Puerto Vallarta, and will feature performances by international singers Mariano Barba and Pearl Alarcón.
Six young Vallartenses, Andrea Citlaly Curiel Rodríguez, Andrea del Rosario González Gómez, Blanca Esther Meza Rodríguez, Brisa Alondra Peña Valadez, Dulce Guadalupe Sánchez González, and Valeria Magdalena Gutiérrez Ruíz, will compete in 3 categories, which will be evaluated by a jury of business and education representatives, including DIF president of Magaly Fregoso Ortiz.
Event Director Elizabeth Castro explained how the beauty queen of our city will be chosen. "There will be three stages of competition: an opening performance, directed by Nuestra Belleza Jalisco choreographer Carlos Salazar; next the contestants will come out in cocktail dresses and speak on topic that is specific to our city; and then they will come out in evening dress and answer a question about their chosen topic," she said.
In the world of Latin American beauty pageants, these competitions become increasingly important as one progresses up the ladder. Whoever wins the Miss Puerto Vallarta crown will be eligible to compete for the Miss Jalisco title. Winning the Miss Jalisco title will not only gives the contestant the right to compete in the Miss Mexico beauty pageant, but also the chance to represent her country in the Miss Universe contest.
Of course, the road to the top isn't easy. The age range for competition is fairly short and one must have the dedication and desire to compete. But what rewards await the beauty pageant winner? Simply put, fame and fortune.
