Punta Mita, Mexico - Lorena Ochoa is hitting the greens in Riviera Nayarit again this week. She is one of the best golfers in the world and she'll be playing together with Aeromexico and their partners and associates at the Seventh Aeroméxico Golf Tournament at Punta Mita Club de Golf, which continues through September 6th.
Ochoa retired from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) in 2010, but still competes professionally from time to time, and now she's picking up her clubs to play with the airline's valued customers and other tournament participants.
This is the second time the event has been held in Riviera Nayarit, a destination where luxury is combined with nature which makes it a golf lover's dream, not only because of its assortment of professional courses, but also because of the quality and challenges that they present.
Riviera Nayarit currently has six competitive PGA golf courses in full operation, designed by some of the most recognized names in this field: Jack Nicklaus, Robert Von Hagge, Jim Lipe, Percy Clifford and Greg Norman, each one presenting different challenges.
This week, Lorena Ochoa is playing at the Punta Mita Club de Golf alongside the 7th Aeroméxico Golf Tournament participants, as well as offering clinics to all of the guests. Aeroméxico hosts this annual golf tournament not only to reward their partners' loyalty, but also to promote the sport in our country.
The Punta Mita Golf Club is home to one of the most exclusive golf courses in the world - the Jack Nicklaus-designed Punta Mita Pacifico. Voted one of the Best Resort Courses by readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine in 2006 and 2008, it is best known for hole 3-b, nicknamed 'Tail of the Whale.' It’s the only natural ocean island green in the world and offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. The tournament will showcase the 18 hole course that stretches over 7,035 yards, in which golfers are treated to both ocean and Bay of Banderas views. Five holes also play along the water.
A seamless marriage of golf and luxury, the Punta Mita Golf Club is located in the private, enclosed community of Punta Mita that includes spectacular homes as well as the tournament's host hotel, the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, the Four Seasons Punta Mita, and two Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses.
To reach this destination, Aeroméxico offers 28 weekly flights between Puerto Vallarta and Mexico City, and two daily flights between Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta, all offering different scheduling options, plus attractive 'Gran Plan' packages, which allows travelers to book hotel stays, plus air and land transportation, all in one product.
