Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - Puerto Vallarta is known for embracing the arts. From the many sculptures that line its Malecón to the fine art galleries that house national and international works, it is hard not to be impressed by the dynamic arts scene in this town of romantic charms and authentic Mexican traditions.
An important contribution to the city's art scene is the Centro Historico ArtWalk, which is celebrating its 16th year of spotlighting Mexico's finest artists as well as artists from other countries who have chosen Vallarta as their home.
The purpose of the Centro Historico ArtWalk is to provide a pleasant atmosphere for art collectors, art patrons, local residents and interested visitors to discover the great variety and exceptional quality of art available in Puerto Vallarta.
From 6-10 pm every Wednesday evening from October 30, 2013 through May 28, 2014, art lovers can explore Puerto Vallarta's numerous artistic offerings during self-guided art walk cocktail exhibitions at ten galleries in the city's historic downtown area.
Both local and international artists display their work within these galleries, featuring art in all mediums - paintings, sculptures, pottery and folk art - so be sure to stop by to meet the artists, view new work, and share in the wealth of culture Vallarta's ArtWalk presents.
A free brochure with information about the Centro Historico ArtWalk and a map to the participating galleries is available at most all of the major hotels, businesses and galleries in town, or online at VallartaArtWalk.com.
Because all ten art galleries are located in Centro Histórico, walking from one gallery to another is an easy, enjoyable experience, and parking is available in the secure commercial parking lots at Plaza Juarez and Hidalgo Park.
