Oktoberfest: Good Food, Good Deeds, Good Times

October 31, 2013

The American Legion and the Navy League of Puerto Vallarta are joining the Vallarta Women's Association in throwing a traditional Oktoberfest celebration on November 13th at Hacienda Alemana in Old Town.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The American Legion and Navy League have joined the Asociación Femenil Vallartense - Vallarta Women's Association - in supporting the Children's Cancer Center by holding a traditional Oktoberfest hosted by Hacienda Alemana on November 13th.

The American Legion and the Navy League of Puerto Vallarta have become very important supporters of a wide variety of projects, organizations, and causes around the Banderas Bay area. Whether the support is in the form of monetary or material donations, advice, support and PR, or building expertise and labor, these adopted "Pata Saladas" of the Puerto Vallarta community have truly shown their love and commitment to make our Bay a better place for everyone who lives here.

In the spirit of this commitment - and through the invitation of the Asociación Femenil - they have recently decided to add the regional Children's Cancer Center, or CANICA, to the growing list of charities they support.

CANICA is a non-profit founded in 2003 in Guadalajara, Jalisco to create a support and advice network for families with children with cancer. CANICA is part of the "International Confederation of Childhood Cancer Parent Organizations" and has helped countless families through programs that give them the tools to improve their quality of life, and to have the knowledge and abilities to make the best decisions in the treatment of their children.

Although CANICA is based in Guadalajara, the Vallarta Women's Association has taken on the task of integrating Puerto Vallarta's children with cancer and their families into CANICA's services.

As you can see, all the organizations involved are highly deserving of our help and support, and what a better way to do it than to spend some time recreating the traditional Oktoberfest atmosphere right here in Puerto Vallarta. The event will be held at Hacienda Alemana - Basilio Badillo #378, Old Town - on November 13th, from 6:00 pm until 10:30 pm

The donation for this event is $400 pesos and includes and all you can eat buffet and beer. If you would like to contribute a little bit more, please bring a gift to be auctioned off during the night. The proceeds of this evening will be distributed by the Navy League of Vallarta A.C. for Community Relations projects and the Children's Cancer Screening Center playground.

Tickets can be bought at Carol's Boutique and Steve's Sports Bar - both on Basilio Badillo, in Old Town. For more information or to buy tickets you can contact Dennis Rike on his cell - 044 322 138 91, for inquiries in spanish call Carol Smith - 322 113 0073. You can also get information on the American Legion website.
