Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The Costa Banderas Chapter of Democrats Abroad is launching its Fourth Annual "Every Tuesday Night Film Series" on December 3rd at 7:00 pm. The popular series will run every week through April 2014.
The popular series features stimulating, first-run films shown in the Paradise Community Center's wonderfully conducive venue, which you will enjoy in the company of other film-buffs. I think you'll agree that it is well worth the price of admission.
The list for December is as follows:
• December 3rd - Quartet
Beecham House is abuzz. The rumor circling the halls is that the home for retired musicians is soon to play host to a new resident. Word is, it's a star - but this sort of talk is par for the course at the gossipy home. This time however, they're in for a shock when the new arrival turns out to be none other than their former singing partner. Her subsequent career as a star soloist - and the ego that accompanied it - split up their long friendship and ended her marriage to one of the residents, who takes the news of her arrival particularly hard. Can the passage of time heal old wounds? And will the famous quartet be able to patch up their differences in time for Beecham House's gala concert? Quartet stars two time Oscar winner Maggie Smith, along with Michael Gambon, and Billy Connolly, and is directed by two time Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman.
• December 10th - The World According to Monsanto
Combining secret documents with first-accounts with victims, scientists, and politicians, this widely praised documentary film exposes why Monsanto has become the world's poster child for malignant corporate influence in government and technology.
• December 17th - Mariachi Gringo
A stifled, small-town man stuck in a dead end life, chases his dreams of becoming a Mariachi singer to Guadalajara, Mexico. While there he meets a pretty waitress who becomes his south-of-the-border muse. Mariachi Gringo is a musical tour-de-force exploring the reality of "following your dreams" across cultural, personal, social, and geographical borders. The film stars Shawn Ashmore, Martha Higareda, and Kate Burton, and is directed by Tom Gustafson.
