Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - For many, the Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra’s annual holiday concerts in the Banderas Bay area have become an annual tradition since the ensemble’s inception in 2005.
The orchestra, which began as a small group of friends who gathered to play chamber music together and has grown into a 30-piece ensemble, has just announced their next performances. They take place on Sunday, December 15th, at the Paradise Community Center on the south side of Puerto Vallarta at 3 pm, and at the Marival Hotel and Convention Center in Nuevo Vallarta at 8 pm.
This year’s program will be conducted by Daniel Oliveros, one of the woodwind instructors at Puerto Vallarta’s Youth Orchestra School in Pitillal. A multi-faceted performer, Oliveros has reached out musically to participate in several projects in the community since his arrival a couple years ago, making him one of the up-and-coming musical stars that enthusiasts in the bay area should definitely follow.
Oliveros’ musical selections include many traditional Christmas favorites, such as: Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride, A Bach Christmas, selections from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, and Peace, Peace.
Choral music lovers will be pleased to also enjoy a guest appearance by SYNG!, a new ensemble conducted by Lois Rogers. Diego Fernández, a 17 year-old guitar prodigy from Puerto Vallarta, will join the orchestra to perform Vivaldi’s Concerto for Guitar and Violin along with violinist Mary MacLachlan.
Tickets for this not-to-be-missed annual performance are only $150 pesos. Children and student tickets are only $50 pesos.
The Paradise Community Center is located at Púlpito 127, Colonia Emiliano Zapata. The Marival Hotel and Convention Center is located at Blvd. Nuevo Vallarta and Paseo Cocoteros in Nuevo Vallarta.
