Mexico City, Mexico - Vogue magazine announced that in February it will launch a book on the life and cultural contribution of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo in Mexico and Latin America, which will include a series of photos and biographical sketches by a number of reputable authors.

The editorial director of Vogue for Mexico and Latin America, Kelly Talamas, said that the book "Todo el Universo. Frida Kahlo: el Mundo Mexico" (The Whole Universe. Frida Kahlo: the Mexico World) is a joint project of the magazine with the Frida Kahlo Museum and the Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Talamas noted that this is the first time that Vogue is publishing its own book in the region. "Discovering from the best writers how Frida Kahlo and her spouse Diego Rivera created their own identity and so contributed to that of their country, has been a great adventure for us that we expect to be a success," she said.

The introduction was written by Talamas herself along with Carlos Phillips Olmedo, director general of the Dolores Olmedo, Diego Rivera-Anahuacalli, and Frida Kahlo Museums, who believes the new publication will allow a deeper understanding of Kahlo and the muralist Diego Rivera.

Among the participating authors are Circe Henestrosa, photographer Pablo Ortiz Monasterio, the Chilean poet and historian Luis Roberto Vera, historian Ricardo Perez Montfort, and US art expert Rosamond Bernier.

Frida Kahlo, who died in 1954, is considered, together with Diego Rivera, one of the most influential figures in 20th century Mexican culture.
