Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - A colorful event in an elegant setting, the Puerto Vallarta Men's Chorus' second annual dinner, dance and auction was more than just fun. The evening began with a silent auction held in the Garza Blanca lobby, which overlooks Los Arcos and Banderas Bay.
While guests mingled amongst the art, jewelry and other tantalizing items for sale, the waiters served hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, then on to dinner in the dining room with its expansive windows overlooking a Banderas Bay sunset.
PVMC is grateful to all the wonderful volunteers who helped create a lovely evening and the many guests who support the Chorus. The event was sponsored by Intercam, No Way José! Restaurant, Cochran Real Estate, R Derr Studios, PVRPV Vacation Rentals, and Lic. Roberto Ortiz de Montellano. Thank you to all!
PVMC is more than just a chorus. As a gay men's chorus, PVMC creates a community in which both nationals and gringos work together to build acceptance and caring. While Puerto Vallarta and Mexico appear gay friendly there are many who live here in isolation, who cannot share their identity in their work environment or even with their own families.
The gay choral community in the US, Canada and Europe is large and inclusive, but PVMC is a ground breaking organization - the first gay men's chorus in this country and most of Latin America. Our free concerts on the Malecón reach out to local people and visitors to help bridge this gap.
To further the goal of building bridges, we support other local nonprofits by singing at their fund-raising events. Come and enjoy our music at the 2nd Annual Vallarta Bugambilia Festival, and our upcoming Vallarta Pride concert as we host Tucson Gay Men's Chorus at ACT ll Entertainment Main Stage on May 23.
