Riviera Nayarit, Mexico - Get ready for the 3rd Annual Riviera Nayarit International Beach Polo Cup 2014!

If you like horses, polo, and glamour then this is the event for you. There will be 8 teams competing: two from Guadalajara, two from Mexico City, and teams from Italy, Canada, and Switzerland - as well as a mixed team with players from Mexico and Argentina.

The event will be held May 1st – 4th at the Hard Rock Hotel in Nuevo Vallarta. This is the sixth time the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) will be backing the event and it’s the third time it will take place on the beach. It is also being extended one more day for a total of four days.

José Antonio Amutio, Marketing Director for Tucané Designs and part of the organizing committee, has stated that organizers are expecting a thirty percent increase in turnout for this year's event compared to the 650 spectators per day last year.

At a press conference held at the Hard Rock Hotel, Amutio said "The III International Beach Polo Cup 2014 can be summed up in six words: Glamour, Luxury, Rock, Polo, Beach, and Art. And we could even add a seventh: family."

The date was chosen to take advantage of a national holiday - Labor Day in Mexico - and the public is welcome to come and experience the excitement of the event with no entry fee. With Argentina's Pablo MacDonough, one of the top polo players in the world, participating in this year's tournament, organizers are expecting an influx of celebrities.

"Thanks to the support of the Riviera Nayarit CVB and the Government of the state of Nayarit, the events at the Hard Rock keep coming - and keep getting bigger," said Manuel Rubio, General Manager of the host hotel.

Among the novelties of the 2014 event: it will be the first tournament with "augmented reality" taking place during the live event - generating interaction through technology. Another special touch: each of the trophies is an exclusive work of art.

Beach Polo is a luxury sport and hence this event fits perfectly with an extravagant destination like Riviera Nayarit. Already, the Puerto Vallarta region is a golfing destination with a big list of world class golf courses. Beach Polo attracts tourists with high purchasing power, which greatly serves the Banderas Bay area.
