Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - SETAC 'Tu Centro Comunitario,' the AIDS Healthcare Foundation México and COESIDA Jalisco, in collaboration with CAPASITS and COMUSIDA are once again reaching out to Puerto Vallarta residents and visitors with their 2014 Semana Santa Protegida campaign.
The campaign's objective is to promote the use of condoms to prevent HIV infection and sexually transmitted diseases through self-protection, and to spread the word that it is every individual's responsibility to protect themselves.
From 11 am to 5 pm for the next three days, (April 17-19th) Semana Santa Protegida booths will be set up on the Holiday Inn Beach, the Malecón, Plaza Lázaro Cárdenas, Playa Los Muertos, Los Muertos Pier, Blue Chairs and the Central Camionera bus station, where volunteers will be giving away free condoms and lubricants, in addition to distributing information on the HIV virus and other sexually transmitted diseases, and coupons for free HIV rapid tests.
The 2014 Semana Santa Protegida campaign, which aims to distribute 60,000 condoms, involves about 40 people, including staff and volunteers from the various participating agencies.
This year's campaign is thanks in part to several local organizations and businesses that support our efforts to bring the message of HIV and STD prevention and education to more people. Among this year's sponsor are: the Puerto Vallarta Men's Chorus, Centro Universitario de la Costa, DIF, Casa Cupula, Hotel Mercurio, Vallarta Cora, Banderas News, Hotel Villa las Flores, Alphonse Swimwear, and Spartacus Tattoo Studio.
Thanks to these socially responsible institutions and businesses, the SETAC Center will continue to invest more in HIV Prevention and Treatment.
During these Easter holidays, we ask that you please remember: "Beach, Sun and Fun are Best Enjoyed with Protection."The purpose of the SETAC Community Center, located at Constitucion #427 and the corner of Manuel Dieguez on the South side of Puerto Vallarta, is to provide essential services to the community, including physical and mental health treatment, referrals, and education in an atmosphere of safety, free from discrimination.
