Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The Puerto Vallarta Institute of Culture invites everyone to take part in the Cuale Cultural Center's painting and sculpture workshops, led by an experienced artist who offers beginners of all ages personalized attention, instruction, and tutelage.
The workshops are taught by experienced teacher Sergio Moncada, who graduated from the "La Esmeralda" National School of Painting and Engraving in Mexico City. Sergio Moncada settled in Puerto Vallarta in 2000 looking for a place to develop his artistic impulses, and has spent the last 7 years exercising his artistry by teaching painting and sculpture workshops at the Cuale Cultural Center.
Sergio is a visual artist committed to teaching. His influences range from surrealism to impressionism. He has participated in various group exhibitions. Considering himself a self-critical artist has made him slow to show his individual works, but over time he has managed to perfect his style.
His artistic offerings cover sculpture in different techniques: plaster, terra cotta, casting and molding, and wood and stone carving. He also offers clay, plaster and pyrography labs, as well as painting and oil painting classes, for children over the age of five.
"In these workshop we try to develop creators, not copy-cats. We give students the basics tools to make their own compositions and find their own style - no matter their age. We have had students up to 88 years old," he says.
Workshop Hours are:
• Painting Workshop - Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 16:00 to 19:00 hours. Tuesday and Thursday: 10:30 to 14:30
• Plaster sculpture studio - Saturdays, 10:30 am to 12:00 pm
• Moulds - Tuesdays and Thursdays, 16:00 to 18:00
• Children's Workshop: Saturdays, 10:30 to 12:00
The classes are bilingual, so whether a local or a temporary student from the U.S. and Canada, you can 'perfect your art' at the Cuale Cultural Center. Group exhibitions by the workshop students are held twice a year, where they can display their work - and even sell them.
