Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - The world has changed with amazing speed. Our reality is saturated with electronic devices and accessories that seem to facilitate our existence, that help us to solve practical problems and complete complex tasks, or those we dislike. But how did we get here, who created these new inventions that have changed our world so much and brought about this revolution?
And even more interesting: how is it that we can see the world in the palm of our hands, yet hunger, water supplies, animal extinction, garbage in the seas, poverty, and lack of food remain major world issues that have not yet been resolved?
The Summer Course at Los Mangos Library is much more than mere entertainment. The activities are designed to reinforce values such as respect, inclusion, tolerance, effort, patience, etc... and above all, to exalt children for their qualities.
The intention is to put them in touch and strengthen their confidence and inspire them to simultaneously explore the real world with all of their senses, then to let their imaginations go, to build and test new ideas and unique projects that seem impossible. It is important to create an environment in which creativity can be fully expressed, where they can create things that no one has ever thought of before, things that could make a difference in the lives of many, those crazy things that some adults have ceased to believe are possible.
Many members of the community and local civil associations that work every day to achieve the world we all want to live in - musicians, chess players, ecologists, conservationists, animal rights activists, passionate readers, soccer players, communication specialists, scientists, multimedia designers, firemen and, of course, all the library's staff, volunteers and coordinators - are involved in this year's Mentes Brillantes Summer Course, guaranteeing that children will enjoy a summer full of fun and great ideas.
