Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The beautiful beaches of Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit will host the entire next season of ABC's reality show The Bachelor, according to Marc Murphy, CEO of the CVB of Riviera Nayarit.
"As part of the 'Vallarta-Nayarit Live It to Believe It' tourism promotion campaign, the Tourism Board of Mexico made an investment of $6 million to lure the reality television show to our area," confirmed Murphy.
It is anticipated that shooting will start in May or June and will last approximately six weeks. Filming locations will be chosen to highlight the natural beauty of the area and will likely include the Marietas Islands and Los Arcos. Various hotels and restaurants will also be featured.
To ensure the production goes smoothly, both Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit will assist with logistics, filming locations, and rooms for cast and crew.
"The idea is to feature the very best of each destination. It will be very interesting," Murphy said.
Reports indicate that the agreement was reached last Wednesday during a closed door meeting at Casa Velas, which was attended by at least 60 people representing the area's tourism industry.
Episode 3 of The Bachelor Canada's 2014 season was filmed in Nuevo Vallarta, giving impressive coverage of the area to the shows 10.7 million Canadian viewers.
"Imagine an entire season of The Bachelor in the US being filmed on location in our area. This time the impact will be even greater," the Tourism Director predicted.
The Bachelor is the most watched reality television program in the US with close to 11 million viewers. Debuting in September 2002, the program brings 25 women together to try and win the heart of one bachelor during a series of dates. The winner is the girl the leading man chooses as his partner at the end of the series.
