Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Approximately 80 animal lovers enjoyed cool libations, an awesome raffle and live music by Maruno at the recent PuRR Project Cocktail Fund Raiser hosted by Daiquiri Dick's 'The Lounge' on Tuesday, March 10, 2015. In fact, many party-goers said that the event was 'The Cat's Meow.'

A perfect sunset topped off a PURRfect evening that included the Catnip Cocktail, a special drink dreamed up especially for this event, and appetizers, including golden purses, chicken satay, ceviche, various bruschettas and stuffed cucumbers, passed by the restaurant's attentive waiters.

There was an awesome raffle featuring Marta Gilbert prints, a hand-painted one-of-a-kind jacket from Sucesos Boutique, a Mexican cooking class, a food tasting and cultural walking tour, a romantic dinner for two on the beach at Daiquiri Dick's, an original piece of jewelry by June Rosen Lopez, a sugar skull ginger jar created by Beatrice Vander Voort at Fireworks Ceramics Studio in Los Mercados, and a few other unique prizes.

At this, the last big fundraiser of the winter season for PuRR Project, around $15,000 pesos were raised, which will help with the care and feeding of the over 130 adorable cats and kittens in residence at Vallarta's no-kill feline shelter during the lean summer months.

Fundraisers and donations are the only source of funding to provide food, shelter and veterinary care for these rescued animals, which is what makes events like this so important. So a very special thanks goes out to Daiquiri Dick's Restaurant, which hosts several events every year during winter season to support not only Purr Project, but also various other local non-profit organizations.
