Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - James R. Callan, author of a dozen books, will make a presentation at the Puerto Vallarta International Writers' Conference. Now in its 9th year, the conference will be held at the city's public library, Biblioteca Los Mangos, March 6-8, 2015.
Callan will present a dynamic workshop on how to write novel dialog. During the workshop, he will explain why novel dialog is different from ordinary, everyday dialog, and show how to accomplish this. He will demonstrate how to create a dialog signature, a term he coined, to ensure that each character remains consistent in his speech. Participants will be given the opportunity to write bits of dialog and have those critiqued by Callan.
This is a workshop Callan has given at a number of writers' conferences in the U.S. and has presented on the Internet. Much of the material for this workshop comes from Callan's book, How to Write Great Dialog, now in its second edition, available in paperback and on Kindle.
The conference will also present workshops on songwriting, the use of Twitter to promote books, memoir writing, and other presentations. In addition, there will be two panel discussions on the state of publishing today and how to market books. Attendees will have the opportunity for private interviews with a literary agent and a publisher.
The conference is presented in association with the Biblioteca Los Mangos and part of the proceeds go to support the library.
Registration for the 3-day conference is $125 USD. Registration forms and information are available by email at drjane121@msn.com. Payment can be made via Paypal.
