Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - This week, the Puerto Vallarta Orchestra School (OEPV) has been offering new students an intensive Summer Orchestral Workshop. For 4 hours each day, these budding musicians have been individually tutored, practiced in the ensemble's various sections, and taken classes on music theory.
The main objective of this Summer Orchestral Workshop is for students at the beginner level to begin to grow musically so they can start being integrated with the OEPV's advanced assemblies. The workshops are being led by the orchestra school's teachers as well as its advanced students, who are acting as coaches and helping the 'newbies' in the sectional rehearsals.
The workshop wraps up on August 7th, and by way of closing, the OEPV will offer a free concert on Saturday, August 8th at 8:15 pm in La Iglesia de San Miguel Arcángel (the church of St. Michael the Archangel) in Pitillal.
The music will be provided by composers like Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Mahler and Strauss, among others, and run under the baton of Daniel Oliveros Directors and Samuel Rua. Come out and support these fledgling musicians as they play in an orchestral ensemble for the first time, which will undoubtedly be a learning experience for the students - and a delight for you!
