Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - As part of the System for Integral Family Development (DIF) of Puerto Vallarta's 'events with a cause' program, the first 'Carrera Beca Padrino' (Scholarship Sponsor Run) will be held on September 20th to raise funds to support children in primary and secondary schools that do not have sufficient financial resources.

David de la Rosa Flores, the director of the agency, said that, through events like this that fund the scholarship program, DIF is working to support vulnerable families by stimulating the children's interest in learning and recognizing their educational efforts.

The beneficiaries are chosen via a socioeconomic study by DIF social workers to identify entry level students with grades ranging from 8.5 to 10, therefore, he invited the public to participate in this race to help more children receive this support for education.

The race will be held on Sunday, September 20 in the central lanes of Avenue Francisco Medina Ascencio, at about 8:00 am, starting the journey up to the Agustín Flores Contreras sports stadium. The categories are: Boys and Girls 6-8 years and 9-11 years of age (1km.), 12 to 14 years (2 kms.) And 16 older (5 kms.)

Registration, with a cost of 50 pesos for minors and 100 pesos for adults, will take place from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm on Saturday, September 19 in front of the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Stadium, where participants will receive their race number and a ticket to participate in various raffles that will be held in the Scholarship Sponsors Race Expo, where they will also enjoy special offers.

Participation in the race is limited to 800 runners, and the judges will be assigned by the Organizing Committee, Flores added.
