Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The SETAC Community Center has been working on a strategic social development plan that will make a radical change in its self and organizational sustainability. They have found a social language that will help Puerto Vallarta know about its various programs and activities through one particular campaign - the Amar es Gestar con Salud, ("Love is to Carry a Healthy Child") Project.
There is no greater tragedy than a new mother unable to feed her child because her breast milk could pass on the virus that causes AIDS. The Amar es Gestar con Salud Project helps meet this critical need by providing the most critically needed item - powdered infant formula - for babies of HIV-positive mothers right here in Vallarta.
The recently reopened Le Bistro Restaurant, as sponsors of the campaign, is the perfect place to kick off SETAC's "Amar es Gestar con Salud" project, which is focused on helping HIV positive mothers feed their young children without the risk of infecting them with the virus.
On October 30th, Le Bistro will host a meeting that will be attended by the campaign's ambassador; 'The Voice' of the women of the SETAC community center; municipal health authorities, SETAC's social media 'Loudspeaker,' and the local media. At this meeting board members will explain that while the 'Amar es Gestar con Salud' is an important project in itself, this campaign also puts a spotlight on local businesses that have joined the network of social responsibility, and are now an essential part of the SETAC family.
The social development of, and improving living conditions in, our community is everyone's responsibility. This is why so many people have, up until now, blindly trusted and supported our work, which has distinguished SETAC as an innovative, creative and pro active organization that addresses the AIDS crisis not only in Puerto Vallarta, but also in several of the municipalities surrounding Banderas Bay.
Through this new campaign, SETAC hopes to bring to light the wide variety of daily services offered to Vallarta's GLBT community, their families and friends - programs that are meant to improve the entire community's physical, emotional and spiritual well being.
And now you can join SETAC's growing network of social responsibility. Starting today, you can be a hero. All you have to do to make a difference in a child's life is to purchase some Nido Kinder, Nan Nan 2 and 3 baby formula (powdered milk) and drop it off at the SETAC Community Center, located at Constitucion #427 on the corner of Manuel Dieguez on PV's South side.
For those who are not in Puerto Vallarta but want to help, monetary donation can be deposited in the name of Solidaridad Ed Thomas A.C. at Banorte, Account #0635459684. Donations as little as $100 pesos are tax deductible, just send a copy of the deposit slip and your details to acontacto(at)setac.com.mx, and our accountant will contact you shortly. "We can all be heroes... join the big family at SETAC."
