Maggie Worsdale Puts The 'Broad' in Broadway at ACT II

November 23, 2015

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Maggie Worsdale will be "tramping it up" on November 25, 26 and 27, 2015 at The Red Room Cabaret.

Rodgers and Hart wrote the song The Lady Is A Tramp for their 1937 Broadway show Babes in Arms. The lyrics portray a woman who has her own priorities in life and isn't interested in New York high society stereotypes. Hence, she is dismissed as a tramp. Maggie Worsdale opens her show with a powerhouse version of "The Lady Is A Tramp." She radiates those sassy, brassy qualities that one would expect from a true New York Cabaret singer.

Worsdale's show is all about the dames, broads, fillies that have had their names lit up on Broadway Marquees. The female Broadway legends highlighted in Maggie's show are known for their talent and drive. Each became staples on the Broadway stage playing demanding lead roles in shows with hit songs!

In Maggie's show, there aren't only songs - but also poignant, funny, and utterly delightful stories from the lives of these Broadway stars. For example, Maggie shares with her audience the story about Donna McKechnie on tour with Ethel Merman in the show Call Me Madam. It was McKechnie's last night and Merman began to cluck in the middle of a scene and make rather odd faces. McKechnie thought Merman was having a stroke. Turns out it was an old vaudeville tradition to coax the performer back on stage. Merman was honoring McKechnie!

Maggie Worsdale was selected in 2009 and 2010 as one of the Top 10 Jazz Singers in the New York area. When Worsdale was getting her toes wet in the singing business, Bob Hope and George Burns selected her as their opening act for a series of performances in Los Angeles, CA.

Since those early days, Worsdale has sung in renown cabaret clubs around the world, including The Cinegrill in Los Angeles, Birdland in New York and the famed penthouse atop the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco.

Worsdale commented in a recent interview, "I don't care whether it's 1000 people or 100 people in the house, as long as I get to sing the greatest tunes ever written to an audience who enjoys them. If there is a little engine driving whatever talent I possess, those songs are my fuel. Being able to pay tribute to the women who originally introduced these great songs is the cherry on top."

Tickets for these exciting performances of The Lady Is A Tramp are available through vallartatickets.com or The Act II Stages box office, located on the corner of Insurgentes and Basilio Badillo on the South side of Puerto Vallarta.

Review: "Maggie Worsdale has that special ability to take a song and make you listen; really listen to what it has to say. No vocal tricks or gimmicks; just straight away, down to earth talent. Maggie Worsdale is pure entertainer, with a voice that delivers on every note." - Kevin Eubanks, Past Musical Director and Band Leader of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
