Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - With the support of the Centro Universitario de la Costa (CUCosta), the University of Guadalajara will be bringing "Papirolas" activities to the children of Puerto Vallarta on December 9 & 10, 2015.
Noting the need to create a unique space for children and teens to enjoy educational, fun and spectacular programs, "Papirolas" was developed in 1995 as part of the Guadalajara International Book Fair. Held annually in Guadalajara and other cities in Jalisco, this cultural and educational children's festival is a playful extension of the UdeG program, featuring workshops, performances, exhibitions, pavilions and stands with an annual theme, which this year is "Artemáticas: the Formula for Fun."
Workshops to be offered on the CUCosta campus include: Geometric Paintings; learning to make Tay Day, an ancient Indian technique of painting on fabric that has to do with geometric and symmetrical figures (for children 3 to 6 years of age); ¡Plis + plas = Plisplás! in which participants 7 to 9 years of age learn about creating numeric rhythms with real and recycled instruments; Armemos con Geoplano invites children 10 to 15 years of age to learn how to construct geometric figures and identify space; and a Complex Origami Workshop that challenges the ingenuity of 16-18 year-olds with three-dimensional puzzles.
Participating children and teens will also have the opportunity to enjoy two shows: "Olé" by the Bravísimo group, and "Matematicuenta" with storyteller Pepe Veloz. In addition, everyone will appreciate the "A Home For All" exhibition through which the Universal Right to Housing is promoted by the DesplazArte organization.
This year for the first time, a training program for teachers and parents will also be offered. Maestro Cesar Octavio Perez Carrizales will present the conference: "Mexico and the PISA Test" on December 10 at 5:00 pm in the Rectory Building's Mini Auditorium.
Anyone (schools, parents and the general public) interested in attending Papirolas 2015 at the Centro Universitario de la Costa can obtain more information by calling (322) 226-2290.
