Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico - 2016 is here and the Vallarta Yacht Club (VYC) is kicking off the Vallarta-Nayarit sailing season with the traditional Vallarta Cup Race Series.
This series, which has been held every year since 2005, runs four Saturdays in January. Each day of racing is capped with a great party at Vallarta Yacht Club! This year they'll skip the first Saturday and kick the first race off on January 9, finishing four races on January 30.
Over two dozen boats will be competing in this friendly and very festive event, which will include the participation of the other marinas in the region, including the Marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle and the Marina Vallarta.
Races start at noon every Saturday on January 9, 16, 23 and 30. Because this is a friendly competition, the boats can participate in one or all of the races. Event cost is on a per-race basis, 300 pesos per race.

The event falls under the aegis of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), whose synergy with the VYC has driven many a grand event. This year the spotlight is on sailing, as both the Riviera Nayarit and the VYC will host the 2016 Laser World Championship in April and May.
