Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The American School of Puerto Vallarta will officially inaugurate their new Javadpour Arts Center with a live ballet and orchestra performance of Giselle on Sunday, March 13th at 7:00 pm.
First performed by the Ballet du Théâtre de l'Académie Royale de Musique at the Salle Le Peletier in Paris in 1841, this classic and romantic ballet is a masterpiece of the romantic era.
Set to music composed by Adolphe Adam, the ballet is about a peasant girl named Giselle, who dies of a broken heart after discovering her lover is betrothed to another. The Wilis, a group of supernatural women who dance men to death, summon Giselle from her grave. They target her lover for death, but Giselle's great love frees him from their grasp.
In keeping with the vision of the Javadpour family, the event will benefit the Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra School, and the Arte, Danza y Cultura Classical Ballet Academy, who have all joined forces to bring this beautiful story of love and tragedy to life.
Tickets are $180 pesos for adults and $100 pesos for students and children. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the school or at the door on the evening of the event. We hope you can join us on this festive occasion.
