San Francisco, Nayarit, Mexico - To kick off their Plastic Free Oceans campaign, Entreamigos and the San Pancho Bird Observatory invite all swimmers, paddle boarders and kayakers to compete in a 3 kilometer swim across the ocean.
The campaign's goal is to raise awareness about decisions and efforts we can make every day to use less plastic - including straws - while celebrating the gifts of the ocean by spending a morning on the water.
Scheduled to take place on April 14th from 7:00 to 11:00 am on the beach at Rincón de Guayabitos (near Hotel Villa Flores, south of Rincón de Guayabitos,) this environmental campaign represents the first action from these organizations in the creation of an educational environmental program to sensitize and reduce the use of plastic in the region of Riviera Nayarit.
The dynamic consists of reaching Coral Island by boat, kayak or paddleboard; and swimming the approximately 3 kilometers back to the beach. Every moment of this activity will be monitored, to ensure the safety of the participants.
Participants are asked to make a donation of $20 USD/$400 MX. With this contribution they will receive transportation from San Pancho to Guayabitos and back, a boat ride (optional) from the beach to the island, a pre-swim snack, and breakfast at Hotel Villa Flores after the swim.
Another way to donate is to be sponsored by a business, friends or family. Registration can be made at the Entreamigos information desk (Ave. Tercer Mundo #12, San Pancho) or by sending an email to: oceanoslibresdeplastico(at)gmail.com with your name and phone number and whether you will be reaching the island by boat, kayak or paddleboard.
The invitation is extended to everyone - spectators, animators, and sponsors for cash, snacks, transportation, paddle and kayak loans, etc.
