Riviera Nayarit, Mexico - The Marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle and the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau are ready to welcome the 2nd Annual Riviera Nayarit Children's Fishing Tournament on Saturday, April 30, 2016, with the full support of the Banderas Bay Fishing Club.
Approximately 800 kids will be welcomed from 8 am to 11 am — a big jump from the 600 welcomed last year — to take advantage of this friendly and free competition, which encourages sport fishing and environmental awareness in a family atmosphere.
The kids will fish off the pier, with the only requirement being that each one be accompanied by an adult. All children will received a free commemorative tee shirt, a ball, a bag of candy, food and beverage.
The competition is divided into two categories: one from 2 to 6 years of age and the second from 7 to 12 years of age. The top 10 catches will enjoy special prizes on behalf of the sponsors, including bicycles, board games, fishing gear and more.
To encourage conservation and environmental awareness, the fish will be returned to the water once they're weighed. The Riviera Nayarit CVB would like to thank the municipal and state authorities, a well as the staff at the Marina Riviera Nayarit for their help.

This event takes place on Sunday, May 1st, 2016, and there will be only one category for children from 4 through 14 years of age. The fishermen will use rod, reel and bait.
Prizes have already been secured for the top four entries, but as more sponsors become available that could extend to the top seven. Winners will be defined by the weight of their catches.
