Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - Dionisio Theater Group is celebrating its fourth season this month by presenting the Spanish-language play, La Ley del Ranchero. This is the first play that allowed the group to participate in the Jalisco Theatre Festival, where the production won the Best Costume and Best Supporting Actor (Cesar Trujillo in the role of "La Gorda") awards.
Written by playwright Hugo Salcedo, 'La Ley del Ranchero' tells the story of three couples who are in a gay bar in a northern Mexico town. Linked by a murder, the three stories revolve around issues of love, passion, misunderstandings, sex changes and abuse.
Directed by Juan Carlos Ramirez (Desperate Princesses) and starring César Bravo (Equus), Samantha Dueñas (Equus), César Trujillo, Omar Lucián, Juan Pablo Hernández (The Voice of Vallarta), Edgar Sánchez (The Voice of Vallarta), Alejandro Lamas (Suddenly Sondheim), among others, 'La Ley' addresses serious issues with lighthearted witticism.
La Ley del Ranchero is currently playing on Friday and Saturday nights of August at 8 pm on the Main Stage of the Act II Entertainment complex. Tickets cost $150 pesos for preferred seating and $100 pesos for general admission. Tickets to all shows can be purchased at the Act II box office, which opens on show days at 6:00 pm.
