Raiders to Host Patriots in Mexico City November 19

April 24, 2017

With more than 76,000 football fans filling Mexico's most famous sports venue, last year's game was so successful that the NFL decided to schedule another game for the Oakland Raiders at Estadio Azteca.

Mexico City - The NFL will soon be returning to Mexico City. The Super Bowl champion New England Patriots will travel to Mexico City in November to play the Oakland Raiders at Mexico City's Estadio Azteca, the National Football League said when it released the new season's schedule last Thursday.

The two teams will play November 19 in what will be a 4 pm ET kickoff on CBS, according to Roberto Abramowitz, a Spanish-language broadcaster for both ESPN Deportes and the NFL Network.

The Raiders played the Houston Texans in Mexico City last season and won, 27-21. That game marked the first NFL regular-season game played in Mexico since 2005, when the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals visited Mexico City.

With more than 76,000 football fans filling Mexico's most famous sports venue, last year's game was so successful that the NFL decided to schedule another game for the Raiders at Estadio Azteca.

This year's game will mark the Patriots' first trip to Mexico. The Patriots have not played on foreign soil since a 45-7 win over the Rams in London in 2012.

The NFL will also hold four games in London this year with the Ravens and Jaguars playing at Wembley Stadium on Sept. 24. Wembley will then host the Saints and Dolphins the following week. London's Twickenham Stadium will then host a pair of games in weeks 7 and 8 with the Vikings facing the Browns and Cardinals taking on the Rams.
