A New Tour for Chocoholics and History Buffs Alike

September 18, 2017

In Puerto Vallarta, there are a few good chocolatiers creating both artisan and everyday chocolate delights. The Chocolate Walk given by Puerto Vallarta Walking Tours will introduce you to three of them.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Sandra Cesca, a local resident, author, and photographer who has been conducting Puerto Vallarta Walking Tours for the past 8 years, has just announced her newest walking tour for the coming season: Vallarta's first Chocolate Walk!

For chocoholics and history buffs alike, on this walking tour you'll visit the three best chocolate shops in town, including two production kitchens where you will see, smell, and taste delicious chocolate of all types being made.

You will not only hear about the history of Puerto Vallarta as you walk from shop to shop, but also the history of chocolate which found its beginnings here in Mexico almost 4,000 years ago! The Olmecs discovered the cacao tree, the Mayans grew it for medicinal purposes, and the Aztecs perfected it with their ancient ceremonial drink.

In fact, the walk ends with a mini-class where you will roast and grind cacao beans, then prepare this ancient drink made famous by the Spanish Conquistadors. You will also have opportunities to purchase various chocolate goodies, including body lotions and soaps made with local chocolate.

The Chocolate Walk will run on Wednesdays at 10 am and on Fridays at 2 pm, starting October 18. The price of this tour is $45 USD per person. Make plans now to take this informative and fun walking tour on your next trip to Vallarta. You won't be disappointed.

Sandra Cesca offers seven different walking tours in and around Puerto Vallarta. She keeps her groups small for a more personal immersion experience. Reservations for all tours are required 24 hours in advance. For more details and to book online, visit PuertoVallartaWalkingTours.com.
