Interjet has announced a new route from Mexico to the United States that will give passengers in Guanajuato and Texas a new flight option.
The Mexico-based airline company says that starting June, they will begin offering a new flight from Silao, Guanajuato to San Antonio and Houston, Texas as part of a strategy to open more than a dozen international routes.
The airline indicated that the flights will start on June 22. Passengers for San Antonio will be offered a daily flight that will depart at 12:10 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, while Thursday, Saturday and Sunday will offer an 11:05 a.m. departure.
For Houston, Interjet will have a daily flight that will depart at 6:40 p.m. and from George Bush Intercontinental Airport to the Bajío terminal at 7:20 a.m.
Julio Gamero, commercial executive director of the airline said that "With the start of these two new routes, these US cities will be added to the list of important destinations to which Interjet arrives from Bajío, such as Los Angeles, Cancún, Ciudad de Mexico, Monterrey, Tijuana and Puerto Vallarta."
Roundtrip tickets on the new flights from Houston to El Bajio start at $229 and fares from San Antonio to the Mexican destination start at $259.00.
"El Bajío is experiencing an ongoing social and economic revitalization," Interjet CEO Jose Luis Garza said in a statement.
"It has become a strong business and economic center and we're delighted to be able to offer travelers to and from this area, our unique brand of lower prices with free checked bags on select fares, more legroom between seats and great service that has been embraced everywhere we fly."
In January Interjet launched nonstop service from San Francisco International Airport to Cancun International Airport and Guadalajara International Airport, with 3 flights per week.
