Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - According to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), Mexico has more dogs than any other country in Latin America. In its 2016 census, the agency indicated that there were 18 million dogs in Mexico, but only 30 percent had an owner. The rest are living in a street situation due to being born homeless or abandoned by their owners. What's worse is that the number of stray dogs in Mexico increases by 20% every year.
Given this problem, on Saturday, July 21 from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm, W Punta de Mita, in partnership with Foto Tour Perruno, will host a World Dog Day 'Woof Brunch' to raise funds for MexiPerro, a non-profit organization that finds loving homes in Canada for dogs rescued from the streets in Mexico.
In celebration of World Dog Day, everyone is invited to come to W Punta de Mita's Venazú Restaurant, where you'll enjoy a delicious brunch and the opportunity to have a professional photo taken of you and your four-legged best friend. Though this is a no-cost event, donations to support MexiPerro A.C. are encouraged, and a RSVP is required.
There is no doubt that dogs are man's best friend and that every dog looks like its owner, so what better way to celebrate World Dog Day than by enjoying fabulous food and a fun photoshoot with renowned local photographer Daniel Alvarez?
